Sullivan!
 

Today , as some may know, is my birthday. Well, I found myself a wonderful birthday present. His name is Sullivan (we'll go with Sully). My wife and I were on our way to dinner and drove past a PetSmart which had pet adoption going on. We'd not planned to stop but from 50 yards away I spotted this big, sweet-faced dog and so had to go see him.

Sully is part Boxer, but larger, with a head that looks like he could have some Mastiff in him. Right now he weighs maybe 60 pounds but is very thin. He's recovering from mange and so missing a fair amount of fur, and I was told that he lost some weight with treatment. I expect he'll go to about 80 pounds when he fully recovers his health. He's between 2 and 3 years old.

Yes, the closer I got the more he called out to me. Well, dinner got put off. Sully and I walked on a leash a bit, talked a bit, and I simply had to bring him home. When he jumped out of the car he led me straight to the sidewalk, up the stairs, and then stood at the door looking like he owned the place already. We went in and he met Cody, the King Dog of the world, and Champ, the Court Jester, and there wasn't a single growl, snarl, or worry. Rather, they all started playing together and acting happy. Sully, like the other two, is quite affectionate and well-tempered, and I know he's going to be a great new friend.

When you meet the dog that is supposed to go home with you, it's instant recognition on both parts...congrats to you :)
