Orchid Painting

I've been trying my hand at painting orchids (watercolors) from photos I've taken over the years. This is one of my first efforts. Obviously not professional, but it's nice to have something to hang on the wall that reminds us of plants we've grown and flowered or seen "in the flesh".

very, VERY nice! Funny you should post that as I have a blank canvas just sitting around and I was thinking about doing the same thing. Again, very nice work.

That's lovely, Ronald!

I wish I had just a tiny bit of painting talent...I have none at all :(

Ron that's very good, specially as one of your "first efforts"
Susanne maybe I'm mistaken but didn't you have a painted pot or something on here once? If it was you it was pretty good. If it wasn't then ummm well never mind LOL

Ron, that's fantastic! Very nice. If this is your first attempt, I'd say you should keep at it. You've obviously got a great touch with the watercolors. Wonderful!

LOL...thanks for the boost but painting a pot and having artistic talent for painting a picture are two different things ;)

Don't want to leave a wrong impression. I've dabbled in watercolors a bit, but this is one of my first attempts at orchids.

Very Nice work Ron, It looks like a pro did it to me!! I have dabble as you say with Oils and very little water color. I do think that oils are easier. Although much slower to dry. I have never done flowers but have done landscapes and animal portraits. Here's a oil painting of a pet Quaker parrot on a piece of cider wood I did. I haven't picked up a brush in years other then to paint houses. Keep doing what your doing you defiantly have talent.

love your quaker, they are so sweet.

Good did a good job with the walercolors, the orchid looks great! If that's only a first effort, then the future paintings are going to be so unbelievable. Hope to see them. I do a bit of watercolor as well (I was inspried my my godmother, who is a watercolor artist), but mainly landscapes. For people and animals I prefer either charcoal or pencil drawings so that I can catch the details better.
