What is an Epicat?
As I understand it, it belongs to the Cattleya Alliance. But what else? Someone gave me some back bulbs of an "Epicat Orange" that has not leaves but the bulbs are a nice plumb dark green. I potted them up and hope they will produce new growth as it was very, very dry roots.

Someone else may be able to correct me, but I believe this would be Epidendrum x Cattleya. Epicattleya.

Yup, I searched it via RHS and it only came up with an Epicattleya Orange Starburst. (Epicattleya Fireball x Epidendrum cinnabarinum)

Thanks Royal and Yvan. I guess the name self, "Epicat" tells you that it might be an epidendrum X cattleya. Just wanted to be sure. I just hope it grows and produces new growth.

No problem. I'll be rootin' for it! :cheer: :cheer:

No problem, Don. ;) I'm sure you'll be posting bloom pics in no time. :)
