Wedding Orchids - Assistance from pro's needed!

Hello all,

I am due to be married in Thailand this December and we have been tasked with picking flowers for the flower arch, bouquet and button hole/corsage. The flowers have to be ordered from Bangkok in advance so we need to notify the hotel shortly.

We have been to Thailand before and therefore fell in love with orchids, however we would like some help identifying suitable and ovbviously not bank breaking flowers.

Ideally, we would like to have as much colour as possible; pinks, blues, yellows oranges white, purple.
I'd rather not have the generic orchid that is all over thailand, or in thai restaurants across the world.

I have identified the following;
vanda orchid
spotted moth orchid
phalaenopsis orchid
dendrobium orchid

However I would like some help picking other types/colours as I am literally doing this blind with the help of google images. (For all I know dendrobium could be worth $1000)

Thanks for your assistance everyone.

Congratulations!! I would suggest contacting the hotel and get the name of their preferred flower vendor. Contact the vendor and ask what they would suggest that is in bloom and in the colors you are looking for.
John

Yes, congrats! We have a few members in that area, maybe they will help. You may want to start another thread with Thailand in the title to catch their eye. ;)

Pinks, purple/blues, and whites shouldn't be a problem. Yellows shouldn't either. I like John's advice, get a few growers' names and ask them for a list and/or solicit their advice. Good luck!

Congratulations, welcome to the board. Glad you came in here for help. I agree with John and Royal not much more to add. Again congratulations!!

Same advice here ;)

Another OB member got married last year and searched high and low to find enough Dens for their wedding in Tahoe:

Thanks for all of the replies!
The hotel are ordering the flowers from Bangkok, and so we do not have the opportunity to see the flowers before purchasing them. We want a general idea of bright, colourful flowers to enable us to give the hotel names of what we want. We have decided we would like Birds of Paradise and Lobster Claw/Helicoina within the bouquet, but wanted others to add splashes of colour.
Hope this helps! Many thanks again.

These type are the ones you see in many places, I'm not sure what they are called. Don't get me wrong they are pretty, but I would like something a bit different. Thanks again for all you replies, it really is appreciated.
