Den Woon Leng

One of my first orchids purchased last year from Home Depot. This den is a hybrid registered by Woon Leng nursery in Singapore. This flower is on a spike which grew from last years cane. The spike starts from a node about 1" down. This years new cane is larger and has started a spike from it's crown. An older, smaller leafless cane is growing a keiki at it's tip. A very busy plant :)

Very showy! I love the deep contrast between the lip and the flower. Sounds very vigorous.

Cabnc,

This is beautiful! :bowing

And yes, these guys can be quite "busy" as you've put it. I have had one for about two years now (I received it as a gift from a friend), and it doesn't stop. It just keeps on giving and giving.

I just found this thread while doing a google search.
I too, got mine at Home Depot, a few years ago. Its still growing, but no sign of buds or kikis.
How are you growing yours, do you give them a winter rest?

No winter rest, I just cut off the last drying flower and spike yesterday! So it was in bloom for 6 months. Here in coastal NC, I grow my orchids outside in the summer (starting aout May). Adjusting amount of light by how far out of or under the shade trees I place them. Then inside in the winter (about Nov) in a spare room with some artificial lights.

Very nice dend!! :bowing: That looks and sounds like one I would like - I love it when plants are always doing something as opposed to just sitting for months and months leaving you to wonder!! :D

Sounds like I should water them then. Thank you.

OMG! I've got a NOID that looks almost just like this and I've been trying to find it's name for a long time! Think this is the same as yours??? When the flowers on mine first open the white is a pale lime green that changes to a solid white...does yours do that?

cabnc 03-19-2009 06:56 PM

Yes it does -- I think you have a name for your NOID !!
