Ornithophora radicans
2 Attachment(s)
Had the first bud open up a few days ago, This is quickly becoming one of my favorites. Its small and seems undemanding. Its currently grown under 4 T8 lights bout 6" from the bulbs in 60-70% humidity. PC fan is provide about 4 hours of airflow in the morning. It gets misted once a day and watered/fertilized once a week. New spikes and new leaves on the way. What more could I ask for? Oh I know! It doesn't smell . Oh well can't have everything I guess.

pretty little plant, and cute fowers.
i don,t know anything about this species |
Me either! It was an e-bay one and was cheap.

I saw one of these at an orchid show last week and fell in love. Where did you get yours? I am searching the web with no luck.
Thanks!!! |
Mine has (I think) a flower spike just starting to show - it will be a first-time bloom. It also has lots of little roots heading out into space as well as into its medium. It's in my north-facing window (in Australia) and has doubled in size in 3 months.
It is a really cute plant! One of my favourites. |
Lovely little plant. I have 2 mounted and cant wait til they do something, One was a rescue and is beginning a few new growths and the other has several growths but hasn't bloomed yet. Do you keep your plants evenly moist or allow dry cycles between waterings?
|
I keep mine evenly moist, and mist daily. It was in sphag moss when I bought it, and I haven't had to repot it.
|
I ask because I had one potted in moss as well as small bark and both just gave up and died on me a few months ago. The only one that kept going was the mount which dries out about every two days and got watered every 3-5. I was going to try another in a pot but I wasn't sure why they gave up on me.
|
Mine seemed to take off when I moved it indoors onto a windowsill, although it may be just the season for growth - it is summer here.
|
From my two I see they are in growth all year, it is the middle of winter here and they are flushing with new stuff again, but the potted ones seemed to resent being in the pots while the one hanging half off its little fern stick was growing all crazy. How much light do you give yours during the summer, mine were in about 50 percent shade along with the cattleyas and smaller vandaceous plants.
