Eulophia cultivation.

Hello,

I was recently given several species of Eulophia which were going to be discarded otherwise!

I’ve never grown this genus and would appreciate advice on basic cultivation (light, water, temp, soil, feeding).

I have the following species:

squalida
macra
andamanensis
callichrome
parviflora
taitensis

Thank you in advance for your help.

Ken

I also found this going through my favorites - I know it may not help but I thought I'd add it anyway :)

Thanks for the replies.

I looked at prior posts before posting and did some online research--there doesn't seem to be much written about this genus, but I think the gist of what's been written is: high light, intermediate temps, loose mix, little fertilizer, and little water during the winter.

I usually research a plant before acquiring it, but in this case either I took the plants or they would be thrown away. So, hopefully I haven't condemned them to a slow death!

I'll do my best with what I've learned.

Thanks again,

Ken

Ken--
I have andamanense and it's proved pretty hard to kill (considering I got it as a large bulb w/o leaves or roots); I potted mine in straight tree fern fibre and water it 2-3x per week. I have two new growths that are coming along nicely. As far as I know these like lots of water and food while they are in active growth, and will take cooler temps, no water and higher light when they are dormant. Good luck!
Adam
