Anyone grow Alocasias? Help!
2 Attachment(s)
I have this gorgeous alocasia that I've had a year now. I keep it moist and mist it every other day. I keep it out of any direct light, almost no light, and it seemed to thrive all this time. Now it's developing orangey spots on a few of the leaves. Anyone know what it is and what causes it?
Also, what type of soil or medium should I use to repot, if needed? I haven't done that yet and probably should before winter sets in. Whatever it's in now feels quite fine. Thanks for any help. :blushing: |
Kiki, used to have one long ago but I traded it when I became orchid obsessed. Could be dry air perhaps. what are you feeding it?? I used to spritz mine daily to help with humidity

Well, Lecent, I'm afraid I feed it Miracle Grow periodically only. Since becoming an orchid freak myself, all my houseplants have taken a back seat. Still, I don't want to lose it and didn't see this coloring until recently.

do you have hard water? i haven't grown these but my spaths used to get it a lot until i started using pure water.

Not that I can tell on the water, bonsai. I've had it a year and it didn't do this until now. I'm keeping it quite moist. Would that be the cause? I read somewhere to keep it damp but perhaps I'm overdoing. :dunno:
