Phal Mini Mark 'Holm' - cut the spike?

Hello all! I obtained a Phal. Mini Mark 'Holm' pretty cheaply because it was near the end of its bloom. Question: when the last flower drops, should I cut the spike off, or is it one of those hybrids that will flower again (or produce keikis) from the same spike on its next bloom cycle? I remember reading that on hybrids with zig-zag spikes, the spike should not be cut. Hard to tell if the Mini Mark is an actual zig-zag, though... :hmm

I cut mine off. I don't think it will rebloom from same spike.

A new term for me! Would someone please explain what is meant by zig-zag spikes? Thanks!

By zig-zag, I was repeating what I've read, and what I can see on my own plants: the spikes of some Phals (mostly Doritis hybrids and some species, according to what I read) bloom sequentially, and their spikes have more marked angles between buds, making a sort of zig-zag shape. Not sure if I'm explaining that clearly... :hmm

I don't think Phal Mini Mark is one that ever respikes, though.

Hey Ross my Mini Mark Holm rebloomed on the same spike. First 4 flowers now 2 with another bud and a new leaf coming out.

You just never know :dance13:

Stephen if the overall health of the phal is ok I would just leave the spike alone until it gets brown... I bought a couple of phals under the same circumstances and as soon as 2 weeks after being brought home and repotted they rebloomed from the old spike... just my 2c

:)
