Calling All Bulbophyllum Fans!
 

Hi everybody! I've been on a Bulbo kick for the last 4 months...love 'em....can't have enough....want more and more. Like all alliances, some require different cultural care than others and since I don't trust text as much as I do hands-on experience, can you give me some pointers on these 2 new additions that just arrived today?

Got them off of ebay and have to say, these have been raised beautifully, the condition is exceptional, better than what I've received in the past!!!

The one on the left is Bulbophyllum cornu-cervi (S) and the other, a Bulbophyllum Fantasia (H).

I have a few not the same ones, they are in the slat baskets in moss or bark if using bark I line the basket with coconut fiber to keep it from falling thru . never had luck keeping them in pots as they want to crawl out .What I do is try to match the color of the leaves on the new ones to some that I have for light exposure, not very scientific :) but helps, not knowing what they got before , They are nice ! .. Thanks Gin. I did the same as you with a few others...have them in slat/vanda baskets with coco fiber to keep the medium in. I also added coir to the mix. Do you find as if you're guessing when to water with these? I'm having a hard time knowing when/when not to feed these.

Mine are in moss I just stick my finger in it ,if cool and no sun I don't water them . I Fert. once a week in the spring and summer every 2 weeks the rest of the year . Good luck with them they are sure nice ones . Gin

Also gone on a Bulbo kick here. :drool: I've got B. biflorum, pardolotum, masdevalliaceum, sikkimensis, and a hybrid, Sheryl Kurizaki (lasiochilum x putidum). I've been growing them in plastic Vanda baskets with straight sphag moss. They're about eight inches from the lights, and I water when the moss is nearly dry, feeding at 1/2 strength each watering. No blooms as of yet, but they're going nuts with the growth! Each plant has at least a half-dozen new leads, with impressive root growth. Anybody know if these guys appreciate a slightly dryer winter rest, or keep it consistent throughout the year?

Hello, we just got a Bulbophyllum cornu-cervi but can't find any photos of it online, especially of it blooming. Do you happen to have any? We would really appreciate seeing any you may have, as they no longer seem to be available on your original post here. Additionally, should you know of any sites with info on this orchid that would be so fantastic.
