Anyone growing Phal. deliciosa?

I got a keiki of Phal. deliciosa subsp. hookeriana today and was wondering what is the best way to grow this. The plant is about the size of a quarter with 4 small actively growing roots.

Thanks.

Cheers.
Jim

I think Tindo has one of these.

Terri, I think you are right, if I remember correctly, Tin has this one also.

Mine (2 plants on the same mount) are growing mounted, watered daily, soaked once a week, high humidity, and temps as warm as I can get them (which is probably intermediate). Both plants have grown new leaves this summer, so I have my fingers crossed for bloom this winter. I got them last winter and the top plant on the mount was in spike when it arrived, but that spike soon aborted.

They are really tiny, I'd say the larger of the two I have has no more than a 2 inch leaf span.

I'll try to get a photo for you if you want one.

Thanks Shakkai. That's exactly what I was looking for. You've come through again! Do you think it would mount well on Epiweb? Or should I stick with cork or tree fern? The plan is to grow it in an east window in my bathroom.

Thanks for the links Dorothy. When I used the search tool, I got most of the links you got, but the discussions were about the flowers and where they were purchased. Didn't find the lowii link that had Shakkai's tree fern mount.

Cheers.

Jim, I think that Epiweb would work well. Good luck with this one! And let us see photos when you get a chance.

Boy, people here have a sharp memory. hehe. I think the Epiweb would work great. Mine was growing mounted in my terrarium background composed of foam covered in peat. The roots dug in, so I think a nice deep substrate like epiweb would do well. I keep it warm and humid. Its always trying to flower, but I was keeping it too close to the light source, so all the blooms and spikes were burning off before blooming. My solution, I moved it farther away from the lights. I hope it works. Good luck with yours.

I remember Tin because it is such a gorgeous plant. It really must have made an impression on me!

It is a cool plant. Even a keiki the size of a quarter has ruffled leaves.

Cheers.

Hello Jim,
I have one mounted on cork with a little moss here and there, grow under lights and it grows pretty well. It really started growing roots like mad when I would dunk it every once in a while in dilute fertilizer water.
Where did you get your seedling?
