Cattleya quadricolor on a tree

Here's Cattleya quadricolor growing on a tree. Notice the almost horizontal growing habit of the plant. When the flowers are born, they keep facing the ground because of that kind of growing. The third photo shows an opportunist white spider. All the flowers have one of these. They keep mounted on the tip of the column, almost invisible, and just wait.

Wow! So cool, Mauro. The flowers look gorgeous in situ like that. And, I have to say, as much as I don't like spiders, isn't mother nature just so incredibly amazing??!!

Mauro,

Very beautiful...and informative! The spider is cool! :yikes: Is this species of cattleya endemic to your area of Brazil?

Awesome, like Roly said, it looks even more incredible on that tree. I love those tree mounts.Has yours been on that tree long? Are the roots grabbed on all over the place. I d love to see pics of the roots where they are actually grabbing on. Beautiful!!!

One of my biggest weaknesses is in situ orchids. And if you throw in the bonus of some wild fauna, I'm a total gonner. Home run, Mauro!

Wow thats beautiful, seeing the cattleya so happy in its natural environment- that spider is a sneaky thing, knows how to get itself a good meal... :)
