Brassidium Dragon's Flight 'puff' culture question
3 Attachment(s)
I purchased this beautiful bloomer earlier this summer. It had a great fragrance and a beautiful spike. But now that the bloom is recently finished, I want to re-pot. Without having actually pulled the plant out of the pot, it appears to be potted in volcanic rock. I would like to re-pot in the same medium it is accustomed to, but I can't find volcanic rock for purchase. Judging from the roots growing wildly out of the pot, it seems to have a fine root system. I have sphagnum moss, different grades of bark, coir, and I just bought some Aliflor; which I am tempted to use.
Opinions, please? :scratchhead: |
Hi John,
That is really a beauty! I suspect the Ailflor would be a good substitute, be sure to move it up to a pot that is only 2" wider than what it is in now.....i.e., if it's in a 6" pot, go up to an 8"......leaving 1" space around outside edge of plant. They like to be root bound. If you want to wait a bit before re-potting, I have access to Lava Rock..........PM me and we'll work something out. I just bought a bag last week. Al |
