Orchid Art
2 Attachment(s)
I was surprised there wasn't a thread of our favorite orchid art, so I figured I would start one.
The first piece of artwork is done in charcoal. During Christmas 2004, my good artist friend asked me what I wanted, and I asked him to draw me an orchid. So he drew a Phal and gave me the exact plant he drew :) Unfortunately, I don't have the plant anymore, but the drawing is framed and hanging in the hallway. I was very impressed by his attention to detail to even the bud scars! The second is a watercolor painting by a Michigan artist named Robin Street-Morris. It is of Neofinetia falcata variety Hisui which I am especially fond of because "hisui" means Jade (my name!) I absolutely adore Ms. Street-Morris' artwork, especially her orchids and waterlilies. If only I weren't a starving college student; I already spend so much money on orchids :bua: |
Wow, Jade...those are both beauties!
I print out my own orchid pictures and switch them out of the frame in the guest bath every few months. A friend of mine gave me two framed prints of Masdevallias done by Stig Dalstrom and I have the orchid/parakeet series of statues from the Danbury Mint |
