Cyclopogon longibracteatus
 

This is a terrestrial native of the southeast region of Brazil. The roots are thick and hairy and the flowers small, but produced in profusion. The coconut perfume they emit is nothing less than fabulous!!

Potting Media
 

A great plant! I have several other Cyclopogon species and other various terrestrials, and I really enjoy them.

What do you use for potting media/mix? Other culture suggestions?

I use a mix of coconut fiber (50%), shredded pinecone (40%) and charcoal (10%). The plant is kept always humid in a 70% shaded environment. I fertilize it with an organic fertilizer specially made for orchids.

Very interesting! I'm a fan of the native terrestrials here, but I don't know much at all about yours. Looks like Spiranthes' cousin. I especially like the bits of cultural info you provide with your pictures.:clap:

You are right RoyalOrchids, Cyclopogon and Spiranthes belong to the sub tribe Spirantinae and can be considered cousins. The floor of our forests is rich of terrestrials of several genera besides Cyclopogon, like Sarcoglottis, Stenorhynchos, Sauroglossum, Prescottia, Habenaria, let alone those of big flowers like Phragmipedium, Cyrtopodium, Sobralia...
