what is the best humidifier to use for hard water

Hi, Welcome to the board. I would not use an ultrasonic. They will spread mineral dust over everything. A water wheel type or one with an evaporative filter and fan work well and you can replace the elements when they get full of deposits. I have used one made by Bemis for years with good results.
