black molding on cattlena
 

i have change the location on my cattlena and got black mold on it, should i cut the black mold of the leaf or leave it like that or there is other solution ?

Your buds look great but that black stuff doesn't. Would it be possible for you to submit a photo depicting the entire plant so we can better access the situation? If this is an isolated spot and rest of the plant looks healthy with no signs of bugs then my:twocents: would be to cut the leaf 1" back (using a clean blade) from the damaged tissue and treat the incision by dabbing it with a little ground cinnamon or ground charcoal. Would also keep that leaf dry for a few days and observe the plant closely for the next few weeks. More photos would be helpful. ;)

I agree with Junebug. I'd cut off the moldy piece . Plant seems healty enough, I noticed at least 2 new leads in the 4th photo

I see the new leads too, and you might want to consider repotting so the new lead and root production will have media to grow into instead of being forced to grow over the side of the pot. You'll need a slightly larger pot (about 2" bigger). When positioning the plant in it's new home, do not center it in the pot, but instead place the old growth nearest the side of the pot. This will provide the side with new growth and root development a surface area for future growth. If the roots are stuck to the side of the pot you may have difficulty removing the plant. Soaking the plant for about 30 minutes will soften the roots and allow for greater ease in removing stuck on roots.

Is the dark part something that wipes off, or is it a discoloration of the leaf itself?

By the way it looks to me like the cattleya is being grown too dry - note the shriveled pseudobulbs.

i cannot clean of the dark spot of ,
it doesn't look very deep ,it is a surface, i think so,
if i do not cut that piece of. will it spread ?
i know what the cause is bad lingting,because i have purchase this new shelve unit for my little collection and put the plant on top for 3 week and have this happening to me, i water the plant once a week, it is in bark media
i am nob whit cattleya ,i am trying many type of orchid cattleya are more demanding for lighting and weather is not very sunny since a couple a week.

Personally, I'd wait and see what happens. The wrinkled look of those old leaves makes me think they're just fading away and will drop off, which can be normal.

I have more questions. Did your plant bloom recently and if so, where the blooms o.k. and how long did they last? The first photos show a spike near bloom. The latter photos show a dried out bloom spike.

Your photos also show new growth that is heading toward the edge of what appears to be a 4" pot. and I can see roots wrapping in circles along the inside of the pot and all of your exisiting pseudobulbs look dry. There is also the leaf problem. All of the above symptoms may be the result of root death and indicate a need for repotting. Those new growths need some space so they an send out new roots. This is especially important if the existing roots have died, and if this is the case, your plant will be relying on the new growth and the development of new healthy roots to survive.

If this were my plant, I would remove the plant from the pot and check the health of the existing root system. Then I would remove any dead or rotten roots, and repot with fresh media into a vessel that is 2" larger than the current one. I would also remove the blackened leaf tip because it also shows some evidence of pitting and treat the cut area with cinnamon. That's my :twocents: Good Luck.

when i got it, it was in bloom in march . it last 1 week. i will re pot it, do you think schultz orchid mix is OK for it.
but i do not under stand the pseudobulbs look dry ? is that the white skin that is peeling of on the leaf branch.
