I'm Back!!!
After not having the time to chill out on the OB I'm finally back! First of all I have to apologize for my extended absence; I had to study for finals. Not that it helped a lot... And I was just in Mexico for three weeks trying to advance my spanish vocabulary and communication skills. I only saw two orchids the whole time; one catt and a dendrobium. The family I was staying with had the dendrobium, but it looked like it was about to die. Probably because it was potted in dirt! I changed that after the first day. When I left it looked like it would make it. I just hope it does!
Good news! I get to take a class at the prestigious Whitman College next year while going to high school! I am super excited! I'm between Geology, Spanish, and Botany. My mom will speak with the head of the geology department and see if I can have permission to be in his class (it's already full!). It's good to be back, hopefully I'll have some time on here before I have to start working harvest in a week. Twelve hours per day, but it funds my orchid addiction so I'm happy! Peace Ely |
Hey Ely...welcome back! :waving
I've been wondering where you were ;) Now I know you were off studying for finals and saving dying Dendrobiums in Mexico! :bowing I've got my fingers crossed for you on admittance to the class you want :crossfing |
Thanks! I'm anout to head off to the wacky world of Walla Walla to visit some friends and to possibly buy an orchid, or two, or seven... yeah, just one or two!
"Yeah mom, I got a good deal on 'em. No I'm not spending all my money on 'those orchid things'." (even though it's funny I have used that line before!) Ely |
:hello Ely :goodluck: on your studies

Welcome Back Ely, it looks like you have been having some fun. Take Botany, hehe. Well, I like botany. Good work with that Dendrobium. Hopefully it will make it and be really good looking when you go back for a visit.
Here is a bit of friendly advice, If you really want to get in, I really suggest YOU speak with the Professor yourself. Take you Mom for help, but you initiate the whole thing. College is a world for adults, and showing that you want to take the class will really make them want to take you. On the other hand, science classes like this usually go by a certain number of seats, depending on how many people can physically be accommodated into the labs. Once they are full, that that, no ands ifs or buts about it. But its not the same everywhere so its worth a try. |

So glad to see you back again and already orchid-ready with dollars in hand and purchasing at heart and in mind .. :coverlaugh: Good luck with getting into that college class! :goodluck: |
Ely welcome back! I can't help myself when I see an orchid in need either, my BF's mom had a phal potted in dirt... I changed it, but it was not looked after, so I bagged it, have my fingers crossed.
Anyway, great to hear aout your college class. I hope everythings works out the way you visualize it. :goodluck: |
Welcome back Ely. I'm also keeping my fingers crossed for you and your wish to get into that class.
