Use of Cinnamon?
What does the use cinnamon do for an orchid? I've seen where its used on wounds to leaves from cutting.:scratchhead:
jonny, cinnamon is a natural fungicide that almost everyone has around the house.
Thanks, I learned something new.
Cinnamon has been used medicinally for thousands of years...it's been documented throughout the development of the world. Kind of cool to use it for our 'chids :)
Cinnamons also great in with french toast. But I mainly use it to patch up my orchids if they get damaged or cut up somehow.
I use cinnamon on my plants when I divide them on all my cuts. I also use RD20 as a flush when I repot new plants. It has the same ingredients of thiomyl or cleary 336. Another precaution I use.
I use cinnamon with oatmeal! Yum
As you can tell, I'm not a real "natural herbicide" person. |
I thought maybe I would post the article on cinnamon I wrote for my society in the articles section.

Heather, I saw where you showed 2 different spp of Cinnamon. I usually use (and stock) the Vietnamese version. Is there any real difference in terms of antiseptic values? There really is a difference in flavor (IMHO).
Heather,,,,what a nice article. I do use it like I said above. I was surprised how much it does work on my catts when I divided them. Ever since I have been using it, I never have a problem with rot around the cut.
