Root Rot and Dehydration...
 

Ok so this orchid of mine had root rot, I cut off the ugly roots, and now the leaves looked wrinkled (sign of dehydration?) When are you supposed to replant an orchid that's had root rot?

well it depends how many roots you cut off. if you cut off more than half, then i wouldn't repot but instead sphag and bag. the instructions for this can be found at Sphag-n-Bag
if not, then i would have repotted as soon as i had finished cutting off the bad roots, sprayed with hydrogen peroxide, and increased humidity but not the watering. hope this helps. if not, keep asking and you shall receive an answer...

Ooh... I don't remember how many I cut off... There were two roots left though...

Does it look like this orchid could be repotted? Or should I go the S/B technique? It's been out like that for a week or so...

Those roots look pretty good. I'd pot it up now, keep it out of direct light, and humidity as high as you can. Don't let the potting medium get too dry, it can suck the moisture out of the new roots. Good luck.

Small pot, keep lightly moist and enclose in plastic bag with some ventilation to prevent mold growth. Careful not to damage those growing root tips.

Ok, another question. The smallest pot that would fit those roots is pretty big, because the roots are wide. Could I put it in one of those wooden baskets instead (and wrap with plastic?)

A question on baskets: would you ever repot an orchid in a basket? I'm considering the basket for this one because of the previous root rot.
