Paph seed sowing

I plan on trying my hand at orchid seed germination with a few orchid species seed in mind in a few weeks. Anyone with experience sowing Paph bellatulum, Paph. vietnamense, Paph nivenum, and few other Paph sp, could they advise me on the medium requirement these seeds grow on, light and/or darkness requirements for mother flask? And any other information they willing to share about these species is greatly appreciate. Thanks in advance.:waving

I have had excellent results with Western 3 + 10% coconut water. Germinated in the light. PH of the media was 5.5. I sowed bellatulum, concolor, exul on that media and had very good germination.

Did you use green seed or dry seed to sow? Did you use fluorescent light bulbs/tubes (wattage:?:) to germinate Paph under or natural light? Where is Western 3 sold? Did you flask them in glass or polypropylene culture vessels? Vented or unvented? I'm getting very excited about propagation my first orchids! And :thanx: for answering my post and further questions.

I used dry seed, sterilized with bleach. I usually try to use green seed.

I used ambient room light, however now I use t5 lights, 24 inches from the top of the vessels.

Western 3 is made in Australia and is available in North America from the Orchid Seedbank. Its more expensive, about $6 per liter, but worth it.

Glass then, but now poly pro. Shouldn't make a difference. Un vented then, vented now. I occasionally get contamination through the vent. Had no issues with unvented. Vented due to pressure issues with sterilization.
