Does anyone have an idea on how tho eliminate tiny baby snails from hanging baskets ( I have no idea how they got up there) I was checking them today and found soooo many of them in almost all of my baskets :(( :(( :(( :((
ANY IDEAS??? |
Whenever you get an answer I will follow the advice. My Vandas have snails too and they are hanging from the Avocado tree.

If you mean the tiny bush snails that never get big I save coffee dregs and add instant to it and pour it thru the baskets seems to get rid of them and does not hurt the plant . Also can place slices of potato in the baskets in the evening the snails will go to it remove in the am . and squish em , then replace the slices in the evening till the little creeps are gone . Gin

Thanks Gin I'll try that today.

I agree with Gin, although I don't currently have that problem I have too read that slices of apple or potato will get them stuck for manual removal.
best of luck! :D |
Additionally, you can go to Home Depot or whatever you have near you, and buy something called "Snail Bait" and sprinkle that around the area. That cured my snail problem.

:thankyou guys for helping me out :blushing:

what about beer? i don't mean pour it on your orchid, but I've heard for plants in pots, you can place a saucer of beer on the ground and the snails will slide over and fall in and die drunk.

There is a "reasonably safe for indoors" bait called Sluggo. It is 1% Iron Phosphate and does a great job of getting snails and slugs. Only a problem if you have a wardian case (like I do) then it turns moldy real quick.

Did I miss something? :scratchhead: How do the snails get into a vanda basket that is hanging from a high place anyway? I thought they were ground creepers. I have never heard of this before! :_(
