Yellowed, Withered Leaves
2 Attachment(s)
Hi,
I came back from a weekend trip to find both of my orchids afflicted. My phalaenopsis had been putting out three young leaves, but all had turned yellow and shriveled, starting at the tip and moving in. There is a little white residue on the base of one of the leaves. My paphiopedilum had two leaves turn uniformly yellow, as did a small shoot it had just started to put out. Attached are some photos. This malady struck very quickly, in just two days. Any ideas as to what it could be? Thanks, cheers, Matt |
:waving Hard to say whether it's lack of watering, fungus, light conditions, etc. Have you checked the condition of the roots recently? Maybe the other 'chid wise can give you better diagnosis. Remove the damage (yellowed) leaves, sprinkle with cinnamon powder and keep a close watch on the rest of plant. Resume your watering and feeding schedule. That's 'bout all I can advised. :goodluck:

are you over watering
|
Nope, watering once a week, no standing water, misting periodically. I checked the roots about three weeks ago when I added some charcoal to the potting mix, they seemed really healthy then. The light is the same as it's been the last two years, natural but not direct... these guys were so happy until Sunday, it's bizarre to me. Thanks, cheers,
