APHIDS! NASTY APHIDS! HELP!!!!

:hello

I believe I have a bit of a problem :(. This morning as I was leaving for work I went to say good bye to my pretties and I almost fainted!!!! there were pesky aphids on my Dend!!! :yikes: I wanted to die, but wanted to get rid of them before that  . So I quickly got rubbing alcohol and a qtip and removed the little suckers, I checked all of them and only 2 of them had it, my Dend and one of my Phals. so i still wiped the leaves of the others with alcohol and I took them inside.

Sorry no :photo: are available right now since my first instinct was to get them things of my babies  .

I put them back inside, now I need to know.... where do I go from here?? :scratchhead: I was planning on picking up physan20 on the way back home and treat them:hmm , will they come back? did I catch them at an early stage, should I prepare for battle?

HELP HELP PLEASE!

Thank you in advance :bowing

Physan 20 is a fungicide/bateriacide/algaecide.

You need something for bugs.

I use (successfully) Schultz Garden Safe brand Houseplant & Garden Insect Spray. Quite safe indoors. Effective against most bugs, including aphids. Avail at most Home Depot stores in garden sprays section. Teal colored spray bottle.

Thank you Royal ;) this is my first time dealing with pests.

while removing the aphids, I noticed 2 black flat spots that I thought were aphid-related, and I see online that they are spider mites :yikes:

there were ony a couple I could see (that I removed as well), so I ask again....

what do I do now?

spray with alcohol? wipe leaves with antiseptic wipes? submerge my chids in water and repot? all of the above?

I'm drawing a blank here, help please? :_(

what do i

Water dunk does nothing. Go get the stuff Ross suggested. I think it also has a pic of a rose on the label. Is that right Ross? Oh, maybe I'm thinking of Bayer.

Schultz makes another product called Fungicide 3 which is semi-effective as fungicide (mildew, etc.), insecticide and miticide. It has a rose on the bottle and is actually a very good product, now that I think about it. I have used it mostly for mildew on other plants, but it is registered for mites, so might  be a better product for the two insects being discussed here. Same source - Home Depot.

Be careful when spraying insecticides for aphids on buds or flowers ,it might kill them ok but it can also" glue " them to the flower or buds . So you are left with flowers with lots of black dots which I have found almost impossible to remove. Aphids seem to appear at certain times of the year so some preventative spraying would help Good luck

Thank you all! :D

Des, thankfully I only have a couple spikes on 2 phals that emerged from the old one, and they didn't seem to show signs of infestation  although I will keep an eye out.

Thank you Ross, sounds like shultz is the way to go :p

I will treat  and hopefully everything will go back to normal, I assume it was a small infestation, but since what I saw were adults, well, treatment is still very much needed.

I'll keep you guys posted :goodluck:
