Oh, maybe you can help me with a rose- related question: is it a fungus that can effect the buds of a developing shoot/growth? My Mr. Lincoln has 4 developing 'stems', but only one has flower. The others appear as though the bud never formed/ didn't develop. I am having the same problem with 'Neptune', which I purchased with a fungus problem two weeks ago. Anyways, I am spraying them with a comination fungacide/insecticide, so this will hopfully fix the new growth on the plant. Thanks! |
I have Tournament of Roses and Mr. Lincoln. Tournament is stunning in full bloom. Mine is 15 years old and always puts on an amazing show. For knock you over scent look for Double Delight. It's not only beautiful but very very fragrant. For knock out color try Rio Samba. It's a bright yellow/orange/red, and is very floriforous.

Cam, We have very humid summers, which can cause alot of problems with certain roses. Because of this I only grow roses in FULL sunlight now. The morning dew and the high humdity is enough to create fungus and black spot. I use baking soda (cow brand) and mix in dish soap - 1/2 teaspoon of BS to 1 teaspoon of dish soap, to 1 liter of water.
Spray at nite when its the coolest, you also don't want the sunlight to hit it for a few hrs. Night time is best (imo) This mix will not take away the fungus but control it, aswell as the pest problems you might be having. Once per week or every 10 days should make things much better. It's cheap but it works!!! |
excellent! thanks for the fungicide recipe! I have mine in full sun as well. This summer has beem especially humid, with all the sunny days that randomly turn into rain showers... I have been using Safer's 3-in-1 spray, i think it was 8.99 or sumthing. It is soap and sulfer, but your recipe is cheaper:rofl:
