Pics of my Additions to my Chid Hotel ;)

Hi Ya's :waving

I mentioned in a past thread of mine saying I had to get my hubby to put up some kind of blinds to shade my babies in my New 'Chid Hotel' from the late 5:00 on Sun hitting them!!

So here's one so far, as Lowe's didn't have but one in stock, in this color. So I'll be heading to another Lowe's soon to get the 2nd one.

They will truly help my chids from any direct sun, high winds, hail, heavy rains, even cold.

I will be pulling them down like the second pic, at about 4:00 every day to protect from the late Sun. I'll pull them all the way down when I know a storm is coming.

I hope ya all dig

Pics of Roots grabbin' wood!!

HI ya all!!

Well I got the 2nd blind up on my Chid Hotel, looks the same as the first one ;)

I have to ask a good question, from the PROS' here!

Now that my mounts are "happy" hanging outside, they are grabbin' their homes (wood) like crazy! Thank God!

I have to ask, is it cool and smart to cut off the twine, rope, line, etc. And let them hang and grab the wood, as they are keeping on that way right now. But with doing so, I know that the sphag will fall off too.

I only ask, as a local orchid nursery told me to just that. But I'm not so sure. That's why I come to the FAB OB!! :bowing

 VERY NICE! Impressive! Shade cloth would work too instead of blinds.

Your orchid hotel just gets better and better! I love it!

I doubt it matters but I'd leave the twine and such on there for a while. . .six months, a year before I snipped it off. I say this because I snipped off my fishing line and the orchid was hanging on just fine but the sphagnum did fall off and the plant suffered for it. I had to tuck more sphagnum around the roots. The plant perked right back up!

Wonder if you could grow some live moss on yours?

Great setup, Jkelee! Your plants look so at home -- they're lovin' it. :)
