Alternative to Sphag n BAg
Hi! I have never been successful with sphag n bag. Do you have any other method I could try with rootless orchids?
Either my pseudobulbs turn orange and get even more dehydrated or nothing happens with my phals. Any suggestions? Diane:roll: :blushing: :bowing |
Are you working with phals?
Someone had this great idea of using molasses, K-L-N rooting hormone and classic jack's fertlizer for helping out rootless vandas. The molasses has potassium which I guess helped them stimulate root growth. They would mix all this stuff together and use it with their watering regimine. Are you growing on a windowsill, greenhouse, orchidarium? Let us know cuz there might be some things you can do to tweek the humidity levels/light levels. :twocents: |
Thanks for your advice. I have them outside in an open mini-greenhouse which I have shaded with curtains of fabric. The greenhouse is a plant stand with grills for shelves.
What do you think I should do? :waving :( |
On the individual in question that needs more roots, you could try soaking the base of the 'chid (where the roots would be) in the solution mentioned above a couple times a week, then lay the 'chid on a plate with a glass over it or large bowl to create a micro climate.
If it starts to mold, you may want to switch it all around and try something different. Some other options might be to increase air flow or do a "vanda in a glass vase" style rescue. I wanted to msg back b4 bed, so sorry it's so quick! |
Wow, rescue is really hard! Thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it.
