I am new to Orchids and communicating this way so please be kind.
I became interested in Orchids in the fall of last year. I have 8 or 9 Phalaenopsis and one labeled Cycnodes Wine Delight 'JEM' FCC/AOS.
and one labled Cyc. Kevin Clarke. I recently killed one labeled Blc. Longlife Seagulls because it needed re potting and I only realized it when as a last resort tried that, took one look at it's roots and realized that just because you just bought the plant-I can't assume it's good to go for two more years in that pot. I want to know everything about cultivating and the nature of these plants. I have read the AOS' book Growing Orchids.[/I][/I][/I]and the big,big British Encyclopidia but am craving just some straight understandable help with how to get the most out of this new hobby. I have some specific questions about my survivors and welcome any advice. I have been searching (in all the wrong places) for information and am hopeful this is it. |

Cycnodes Questions
Thank you all for the hearty welcome and offers of sharing your knowledge.
I have not been able to find any information on Cycnodes-are they the same as Cycnoches? Is Cyc. on the label an abbreviation of one (or the other)? I have two orchids that look the same. Cycnodes Wine Delight 'JEM' FCC/AOS and Cyc. Kevin Clarke. Both have vigorous new foliage growth. On the Kevin Clarke, one of the stalks is shriveling but they rest of the plant appears healthy. I have no photos-sorry. Any suggestions regarding the identification and cultivation of these plants would be greatly appreciated. |
Welcome to the OB. Glad to have you on boad.
