x3 Phal Blooms
 

Hiya Everyone!

First post, and felt like starting off by showing what Orchids I have (that are blooming) :D, all 3 are two years old and this is their second blooming. Unfortunately as far as I know they are all NOIDS so if you happen to have one that is similar please let me know, I'd LOVE to have their correct names.

Hi Kratos, they ar ebeautiful Phalaenopsis, and since they are blloming for the second time at your place (and look very happy!) it seem very obvious you are doing the right hingwith them :) Congrats!

As for identifying them... almost impossibe!!! This kind of Phalaenopsis hybrids (I assume they were bought at a flower shop, supermarket or similar) are produced in masses and are normally quite complex hybrids (it means, they are the results of sevral generations of hybridization). Many many of these hybrids look similar to each other, and therefore it is very difficult, if not impossible, to identify one hybrid only by the flowers it has! Furthermore, sometime the same hybrid, produces completelly different flowers from plant to plant, no matter is they are from the same generation.

Hi kavanaru, thanks for your reply! I've been reading the board for a few weeks and I did fear what you've just said. :_( Most of the plants were presents and came with such limited information, and they came from people who aren't especially into orchids :biggrin: Still I've really enjoyed looking at everyone else's pictures and reading people's stories which in the long run is better than knowing their names (IMO of course :) )

just give them a good name you like and enjoy them... sometimes the NOIDs (that's how we use to call unidentified plants) are the best rewarding plants..

Thank's everyone for your kind comments :) I'm just a novice compared to so many of you, but its encouraging!

Can you actually get totally white blooms? Either way it looks white because its a picture from the back :biggrin: , pic 5 in the left hand corner shows the front of the flowers... white wings with a yellow lip, someone in another thread has one that's similar "Sogo Yukidian" but I believe this one is a NOID and like Kavanaru suggests it's likely a very distant cousin at best.

I think maybe you didn't get the right pic in there . #1,3& 5 all look like the same plant to me. At any rate they're all lovely. You are right you rarely if ever see a totally white Phal. I have a couple of different whites with yellow lips, both NOIDs. Mine don't have the branching habit yours does though. Very nice. I'd love to see a picture when it's fully opened. Great growing!
