?? about orchid mix
I bought some special orchid mix by Better Gro to try and revive my dying Phal orchid. The instructions are a little confusing, and I'm not sure if I'm supposed to use something else under this mix as a soil. It says to place rhizome top level to about 1/2 inch of top of the pot. Is this something else I should have in the pot underneath the orchid mix? If so, are there any suggestions as to what is the absolute best stuff I could purchase to save my sick friend?
And by the way, she's already looking better, her leaves were twisting and wilting around, but now they have untwisted themselves!!:cheer: |
A rhizome is part of sympodial orchid root structure. Phals are monopodial and do not have a rhizome. So, to answer your question, you don't need anything else to repot. You're good to go. :goodluck:

Glad your 'chid is behaving as you had hoped! As Terri said, just pot the Phal so the bottom-most leaves are just above the bark mix. Hopefully new roots will emerge soon.
