Heat Damage?
1 Attachment(s)
Good evening fellow orchid folks! Decided to try and order one of these -have heard of good results in past. Showed up at my house today, set of leaves looking like this. I’m thinking heat damage? We had a 91 degree day today -thinking it may have gotten burned during its travels?

That does look like heat damage. That cellophane wrapper could have acted like a magnifying glass if it got a blast of direct sun (making the local leaf temperature a lot hotter than ambient) , or just a heat trap. The leaves won't lose the ugly appearance, but the plant should be OK. But if you want to lodge a complaint with the shipper and ask for a refund, you certainly would be entitled to that or a replacement plant. A properly-packaged plant shouldn't have gotten that toasted.

Thanks for the reply! Kinda thought it looked as if it was left wet in the sun and it burned where the wrap was stuck as well. Turned out to be a very pinky mauve hybrid -kinda muted for my taste. Have it soaking in kelp extract right now. Will ask for a replacement -going to feel ripped off for the next few years of staring at that damage on the newest growth. If it were a catt -wouldn’t really care, a year or two at most and everything is back to clean growth. Good plant to experiment new growing techniques with I suppose.

That's heat damage on a Vanda. It's hard but I suggest not ordering plants during hot weather if there's any chance the package sits in the sun.
