Container choice for Cl. russelliana
5 Attachment(s)
I have a Clowesia russelliana in a 3" / 7.5cm pot that is just making new growth, but not roots. It is already warm here, and it will get hot in the next few weeks. I think it's time to pot this up.
I want to use the PET method. I don't drink soda so I don't have any empty 2 liter plastic bottles. Which of these containers do people think might work well for this plant with this method? Thanks in advance. This is a standard 1 quart/liter deli food container. Attachment 170227 This holds about 3 pints / 1.5 liters. Attachment 170228 This holds 2 quarts/liters. Attachment 170229 I can cut down a 1-gallon / 3.78 liter container, either this thin-walled one: Attachment 170230 Or a more sturdy one like this, although the one I use will be completely opaque and not translucent: Attachment 170231 |
I vote for the gallon sized. You could get two seasons out of it and translucent is nice.
I have the exact same russelliana from SVO with a similar chonky second year bulb. Hoping for a bloom this year! |
I would use the deli food container or the cut-down distilled water container. The alcohol container could be a bit too big but it would certainly be sturdy. The other shapes of containers seem like it would be very difficult to wrestle the plant out on your next repot.
