Paphiopedilum Finally

 Good afternoon, all. I am fairly positive that the Paphiopedilum I purchased is a Lippewunder. I should have waited for the flowers to open completely (see attachment). It seems that I got two different Paphiopedilums for the price of one. I'm a little happier because I felt I spent more than I should have. I'm not interested in the exact Paphiopedilum hybrid parentage, but I do feel they are Lippewunders. If anyone has a different opinion, I'm open to your thoughts. Thank you all again, :bowing Zelvan

It may have Lippewunder as a parent, but I don't think that's the name of that hybrid.

Attached is a shot of 60 Lippewunders; they all have a brown axis in the dorsal sepal.

Here is a temporary version that is larger than the attached one.

Ray: Were all those photos taken of siblings from the same seed pod? If different parents were used, another seed pod might contain very different plants. That's the nature of complex hybrids.

They are photos from all over the world, so likely different parents.

Paphiopedilum Finally

:bowing Thank you all for your help with this Paphiopedilum orchid. We still don't know if it is in the Lippewunder family of hybrids. But it is beautiful and a Paphiopedilum (Greek for Venus's Slipper). I just hope it flowers more than once this year and for years to come. Thank you all again, waving Zelvan.

Paphs are sympodial; they grow from a rhizome (usually quite short) and form colonies that share the accumulation, creation, and storage of phytochemical resources. Each growth only blooms once, but in larger, mature colonies, you may have several bloom at the same time.
