Back at Trader Joes

Been a good boy for 2 months. Fell off the wagon. Got this NOID at Traer Joes today. Almost 100% confident its a Bellaria Marfitch. Color in photo is slightly off. Hopefully it will fit when I bring in all the plants. Been slowly moving them back in the house based on cold tolerance. This week they may all come in. Not sure yet, its suppose to be in the upper 40's. Cymbidiums will probably stay out for a few more weeks. Anyone have an idea of how low Zygos and Miltonopsis will be ok with?

Nice catch. (Worth falling off the wagon for) If the true color of the segments is dark purple, likely Marfich. If it is lighter, could be its parent Charles M. Fitch.
Zygos should be OK down to about 45 deg F since they ahve been out and acclimating (unless it's one of those hybrids with Aganisia cyanea in it, in which case it should be inside already). Miltoniopsis in most cases isn't happy much below 50 deg F. (Miltonia, on the other hand, is fine into the low 40s F ) The Cyms should be fine until there's potential for frost, especially if the days are warmer and bright. If the days are also cold and gloomy, maybe down to 45 deg F at night for those. (Cyms can take below freezing, but are helped when the days are bright and warmer... that works in California but I'd temper my advice on the lows a bit for other climates) |
