Now the time to mount this Pot. hybrid?
 

Still new to Cattleya in general but this is a first that I’ve only read about: roots emerging after the bulb matures(nerve wracking)! It now has growths started at either end in addition to that new root.

Near the beginning of July, I mounted a very small Rlc. with the beginnings of a root much like the one pictured and it has since attached and added more roots; could I follow suit with this Pot. hybrid despite it being considerably larger?

I have another that is slightly larger than this one that is also scrambling in different directions but hasn’t started putting roots out yet—these two plants are starting to take up some space in my limited “staging area” and I want to get things up and out before disaster strikes them.

Yes, now. If the other one isn't making roots, wait.

Certainly, now would be a good time. Once that one root makes contact, it’ll signal the rest of the plant to follow suit, especially with an addition growth just sprouting.

Water it frequently once you do.

By the way, there is nothing set in stone about “roots emerging after the bulb matures”. It can happen at any time and varies all over the map among genera and species.

Thanks Ray; the emergence of roots after the bulb matured had caught me off guard—up till now, I had only experienced new roots emerge and expand with their associated new growth. The rhizome of the other isn’t as prostrate as the one pictured and I found my self looking at this vertical rhizome with these rootless bulbs thinking I’m doing something wrong.

I will admit, I was on the “let them dry out completely before watering” train, and my bulbs show it, but I swear I’m a changed man!
