Brown mushy spot on orchid bulb
 

Hello!

I have a new orchid that I purchased about a week ago. Today noticed that it has a brown mushy spot on the bulb that was not there last week. Only watered it once since purchase. I'm brand new to this type of orchid. What is this spot and is there a way to save this orchid?

Any chance that's sunburn?

What are your growing temperatures? Watering once a week in bark may not be enough for an Oncidium hybrid. They prefer to stay moist at all times.

It is growing at just ambient room temp and far enough away from the windows that it couldn't be sunburned. I'll keep in mind to maintain most soil. Thank you.
