C. purpurata v. tipo 'Giant' x rubra

C. purpurata is my favorite Brazilian species orchid. There are hundreds of color variations. So, I'm always on the lookout for a new specimen to add to my growing purpurata collection.

Take a look at this first-time bloomer in my garden, C. purpurata v. tipo 'Giant' x rubra. I just love that lip plus the pink blush on the petals and sepals.

I probably wouldn't win any awards with this one (curved dorsal sepals, droopiness). Even so, I think it's a pretty nice first bloom :)

Wow purpuratas are really getting wide and full these days!

There is nothing 'pretty nice' about it, its absolutely beautiful!
The colours are wonderful.
