Phalenopsis orchid leaves with black patches
5 Attachment(s)
Hello Orchid Pals,
I bought this orchid on clearance couple of days ago and it didnt seem to have any issue. Probably just one small black spot that I didnt think could turn out to be an issue. But now I see that it seems to be spreading and looks like some bacterial or fungal issue. Please suggest ways I can give the right treatment for it. Right now it sits on a window sill and house temperatures are around 70F and humidity 40%. One more thing to mention is it had decorative spanish moss at the top which could have contributed to more humidity. I removed the moss 3 days ago. Pictures are attached. Thanks, Swetha |
Those are probably damaged from scratches or pokes. What is the potting medium? Is it wet?

I agree. It seems to be mechanical damage. If they don't spread, then it's ok.

The potting media is bark but it did have some decorative spanish moss at the top. When I bought the orchid it had just one of those spots and I thought it was mechanical damage but now its spreading😭

One thing that always helps Phals. is to keep them warmer. Could you use a heating mat?

I wouldn't worry too much unless they spread to the point of affecting the whole leaf. To avoid any possible infection caused by water deposits, put it in a warmer place, as ES sugested. |
