Rhyncholaelia digbyana first bloom
2 Attachment(s)
I purchased this Rhyncholaelia digbyana as a seedling in late 2020, and it’s finally giving its first show! It didn’t do much its first couple of years in my care, one or two growths per year, then in the last year it has put out half a dozen. Gave a “practice sheath” on the last cycle, then finally gave me the real deal this time around. Amazing what a brighter location in the grow area and more regular fertilizer regimen will do!

Very nice. I started one about the same time and keep (im)patiently waiting for the first bloom. Makes me hopeful.

What an awesome species, well done! Cheers to finding the perfect culture and watching the plant thrive!
I think I've mentioned this before but I have a theory that these plants are actually bat pollinated and the reason they look the way they do is because they are mimicking a cactus flower. |
