Den. macrum culture
 

On a recent trip to Ecuador I purchased 2 Den. macrums from Ecuagenera. (Wonderful vendor). I need some help with their culture. I'm growing them in a cool terrarium with a reptile fogger, T5 light, & fan. 1 has died already.

Look it up at orchidspecies.com, the Internet Orchid Species Photo Encyclopedia. The correct name is Den. isochiloides. It's a warm to hot growing plant from lowland tropics. It isn't happy in a cold terrarium.

I look up all unfamiliar species at IOSPE before buying them.

Are you sure it isn't an epidendrum macrum? I have one from Ecuagenera, it is listed on their site. Den macrum is not

My mistake. You are correct. Epi. macrum.

Epi. macrum would like lots of air circulation, very bright light and plenty of water.
