New Cattlianthe Faikon Ball a little rough
I purchased two mini catts recently, and one is in a little rougher shape than I would have hoped (the other one tested positive for ORSV, so maybe I can't complain too much about this one).
Hopefully these links work for the photos. The older roots are all rotted, though there are some newer ones that seem to be doing well. The plant was dry when it arrived, and plumped up when I sprayed it well, but seems to be drying out again -- I don't think there's enough roots to support it well. Looks like the plant was very recently repotted in the peanut and sphag, and was previously in granite chips (there's one chip stuck to a dead root). Plant is a foot from an ESE window with some supplementary LED (other established catt hybrids do well here over the winter). RH is 55%. Any advice appreciated. https://i.postimg.cc/fydtvDDD/IMG-4193.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/L6dZ8Y3X/IMG-4194.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/7PJ24M7d/IMG-4195.jpg |
I would not repot it again. Give it good care and it should do well. The warmer you can keep it the happier it will be.

The moss is fine just let it dry before you water it again and dry each time you water it. the new growths are what you want to keep happy now. warmer is better and as much bright light as you can give it without burning the leaves.
they will harden for outdoor life when they get a little more established root system. good luck :) if you need another one get the next one from Peter T. at ..... General Orchid Catalog - Peter T. Lin - Diamond Orchids |
