Do Star Phals (Polychilos???) require more light than regular phals?
Hello all,
I understand that the star shaped phals have different requirements for care than the regular ones. However I am not sure about their light requirements. Do they need very bright light or the same amount of light as regular phals? One more question, what is the cutoff for how warm they can get? I have one in a terrarium, but I don't want it to get too hot. Is staying in the 80s (F) range okay or do they need more warmth than that? Any advice is greatly appreciated, thank you 🩷🩷 |
I treat all the same, doesn't seem to make any difference in terms of light. I don't think temperature makes a lot of difference either, as long as the minimum is warm enough, if there is good air movement they should be fine if it gets on the warm side.

Read some notes I took from an award-winning Phal. breeder. He bred mainly Polychilos types.
From the left yellow menu choose Forums then Phalaenopsis - Hybrids. Look at the top of the listing for the sticky thread Eric Goo of Phoenix Orchids: Growing Phalaenopsis. |
