Excellent!

Nice! This actually looks like harrisoniana and not a hybrid with loddigesii.

He is agreeing with you. Many plants sold in the US as harrisoniana are hybrids.

In fact i am often surprised that in U.S.A. are created so many hybrids with Cattleyas that could use a better species appearance. So instead of improving species (and keep these available too) you guys prefer to create hybrids, dont you?

I think that was definitely the case during the cut flower Era. Then as lab techniques started getting better people went nuts with the hybrids to see how far they could go.

Fortunately, now I think there is room for all. Specialist growers offer a huge variety of species while the hybrid people still push the limits. Seems like there is both.

I think people have confused intermedia with harrisoniana, and created hybrids unintentionally.

Species line breeding is very popular here! Recreating the old primary hybrids with improved species has also become very popular these days, with some really cool results!

The wild forms of both look very similar, though they're from different areas.
