Is This a Scale?

Background: received some plants, and one Rl. glauca had a lot of scale on it. It may have been treated, but I still attacked it none the less. (I was aware of a scale issue and agreed to take in and treat. Plant has new growth and can be viable.)

I found this item in the bottom. It’s dead and dried, but is it a huge dead scale? :_(

I would estimate that this is about the size of a U.S. dime. Not quite as large around as a bottle cap.

Needless to say, I’ve got some soaking and repotting to do. Can’t wait to see what other goodies may be in the substrate.

Looks more like a plant seed to me. How big is it?

Looks like a seed or dried leaf. Vegetable not animal.

Its an Elm seed

Apparently I didn’t hit “reply” to Ray’s comment. It’s about the size of a dime, Ray. Since you’re in the U.S., I figure you’ll understand the reference.

It’s very light, so a breeze could carry it. Like a seed.

Thanks for the input. Seemed like a creature nightmare for orchid growers if it was a big scale!

Definitely a seed then.
