Painting black shade cloth white
I have a few panels of heavy duty, black, 90% shade cloth (polyethylene).
The black color traps too much heat in my chicken run, but the shade tarps are still in excellent condition so I’d like to find a way to keep them in use. I was thinking of painting the outward facing side with white paint to help reduce the heat gain. Quick google search says a latex house paint would be a good option since it will still stretch and give a bit when dry. Anybody ever try this? How’d it go? Other thoughts or suggestions are welcome! |
Not much sticks to polyethylene. I'd test a small spot before going whole-hog.
I've read that latex or elastomeric paint is OK, but my experience is not good. |
That’s about what I thought. Thanks. If I do attempt painting it, I’ll do it while it’s in place on the coop to avoid moving it after it dries.
