Pacific Orchid Exposition 70 Haul

Hello all I went to POE 70 today, my first Orchid Show!! and had a blast, all the displays were amazing and I had a great time checking out and sniffing all the flowers. Anyways here's the haul!

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...c9e747f6_b.jpg

Top Row : Pots and media from Flori Culture

Middle Row : Elaphoglossum peltatum from Golden Gate Orchids , Anthurium crystallinum from Ecuagenera , Maxillaria variabilis 'Gold Country' from Gold Country Orchids , and Cattleya walkeriana 'Dayane Wenzel' HCC/AOS x C. walkeriana 'SVO Whopper' AM/AOS from Sunset Valley Orchids .

Bottom Row : Coelogyne incrassata from Flori Culture , Marni Pot from Marni Turkel (She sells these on Ebay I belive), Zygopetalum triste from New Earth Orchids , and Trisetella didyma from Ecuagenera .

I was supposed to have another orchid, a Masdevallia exquisita however they didn't ship that one which is a real bummer because that was the orchid I was looking forward to the most, oh well I just have a refund instead. :((:((

I was there yesterday, it was full of people. I had fun thumbing through everything at the Ecuagenera booth. Lots of trianae and maxima plants, some in bud! The Vanda falcatas at Seed Engei were very cool. Saw some very interesting flasks at Tropical Exotique, including one full of Bulbo phalaenopsis seedlings. There was a big, healthy Bulbo rothschildianum at the table outside I had a hard time walking away from. I was surprised not to see any Catasetum offerings from SVO, it was nearly all mini-Catts. The Masdevallia exhibit was top-notch, and Paph Paradise's monster 'best in show' was amazing. The hidden treasure for me was a Dendrophylax lindenii in bloom inside a glass jar. First time to see that flower in person.

Yeah my favorite exhibit was the Plureothallid Alliances Glass Tower (Just so happens to be my favorite group of orchids ) I also really enjoyed that Dendrophylax lindenii in the glass jar, it was cool to see it not even mounted on anything, just suspended in the air. The people at the SVO booth said the Catasetums got snapped up within the first few hours of the show and that they are typically the first too sell out, I saw maybe three Clowesias and that was all there was.

Im sorry about your Masdevallia, but this is such a nice haul overall, Duck. But OH that Elaphoglossum peltatum I've always wanted one, for my shallow fish tank, but the online prices are so expensive. I love ferns. It seems like there are more cool growing selection available up north/central California than down here where catt are the norms.

I went to the Ecuagenera event at Los Angeles yesterday expecting that they'll bring some of their orchids along but it turns out they were only selling leaves this time. Atleast I've got a good deal on a mounted staghorn fern.

PuiPuiMolcar I bought my Elaphoglossum peltatum from Golden Gate Orchids for $15, I would give them a call and see if they still have some. They also had a bunch of Dendrobium cuthbertsonii and Dendrobium laevifolium if you're interested.
