Discoloration on Cattlianthe Little Hazel 'Red Jewel'
6 Attachment(s)
I bought this Cattlianthe Little Hazel 'Red Jewel' from a local orchid nursery a few months ago. After about 2 months of having under bright grow lights, I noticed it was turning extremely purple. I assumed this was just from the bright light, but even after moving it, the purple is remaining and most of the pseudobulbs are looking very dehydrated. When the first flower emerged, it came out with lines of discoloration on the top petal and deformed side petals. This is this plant's first blooming, but I'm concerned that it's a sign of a virus. Does anybody have any suggestions for identification/ treatment?

My guess would be that the plant has not been getting sufficient water and/or humidity, which affected the bud development.
I’ll bet that, if grown under less-stressful conditions going forward, it’ll bloom better. |
