Where to meristem clone orchids.
Hello all,
I have a plant that I bought that is very important to me and would like to know where I could bring it to get it cloned through tissue culture propagation. It has some issues and while there are definitely clean leads, I think there might be a rot problem and I want some backups, even if it is expensive and yields many plants. Does anyone know where I might be able to find someone who does this? Thank you. |
I don't know but am eager to find out.

interesting! never really thought about it, but i talked with a person who said they were getting the materials to be able to do it...so maybe you could go that route?
curious myself, a quick google search i see only 2 hits that seem reasonable, one in australia the other in saint johns michigan, of all places! that place is called orchid origins, but it’s just a Facebook group, so i don’t know how legit they are best of luck! |
What kind of plant?
In some plants, it’s an easy process, but in others, you end up destroying the existing plant to extract the meristem. |

So that means that the lab would need a new growth front from which it can extract the meristem.
Might I suggest an alternative: Dose the plant with Kelpak to pump up the resources, and smear copious amounts of keiki-inducing hormones all over the bases of existing growths, old and new. That has been shown to "awaken" dormant growth fronts. |

Wow, so they choose which plants they are going to work with? That's disappointing. Thanks for that info.
