Encyclia Sima

I called up Andy @ Andy's orchids two months ago in search of Encyclia citrina (which he had btw). While I had him on the phone I told him about my collection of fragrant plants/orchids and asked him for a tip on some special ones. He suggested Encyclia sima and Dendrochilum glumaceum. Both of these recommendations couldn't have been better, these are both incredibly beautiful and fragrant plants that were not previously on my radar.

I actually have not seen much about Encyclia sima despite it's beauty and fragrance. It smells exactly like C walkeriana and just as powerful. It is a large sized encyclia but totally worth the space. 10/10!

Correct, this one does not like to dry out. I have it in sphagnum, which I water once it is just slightly damp.

It's very beautiful.

Is that Anacheilium simum now or was that yesterday?

The taxonomists have me so confused I don't know what's what. I thought I had Encyclia, Anacheilium and Prosthechea all figured out and woke up one day to find out it had all just been a dream

Ha! Prosthechea sima seems to generate the most action when Googling.

A beauty. Are blooms resupinate? On my watch list.

They are indeed! The flowers are also crystalline and neatly presented.
