Angraecum sesquipedale var sesquipedale vs var angustifolium/bosseri

I'm having some trouble deciding between the two varieties of Angraecum sesquipedale. I know angustifolium/bosseri is a smaller and more compact plant than the the standard sesquipedale. Are the flowers and nectar spurs smaller too? Is there a scent difference?

Also which one is more common? Vendors don't always specify which variety it is.

I have no personal experience with this one but I had a look at the AOS awards. The largest awarded flowers are not var. angustifium but it isn't by much (between 16 and 19 cm) I'd venture to say the flowers are about the same size. There isn't a huge difference in the nectary length either. In fact the longest measurement I could find on an award was on an angustifium at 33cm.

I can't speak to your other questions but I hope that helps! (Also I would put money on it smelling exactly the same)

Thank you Louis,
How do you look at the AOS awards? I didn't know you could do that, sounds pretty cool. Is there an online database? I searched online and didn't get any results.

You need a membership to the AOS, which is the same thing as a subcription to ORCHIDS magazine. That will give you access to a database called OrchidPro. The basic online access is 55$ and it's worth it. I got a step up from that's because I like the magazine too.

It's pretty fun to explore the awards and see if different hybrids have been made. It only shows awarded plants so it doesn't have every registered hybrid (that was OrchidWiz) but it has a lot.

For AOS awards (including award photos) indeed OrchidPro is the source. For hybrids in general (and species as well) take a look at Orchidroots The link goes to the .org version, orchidroots.com also works. It's free. Orchidwiz is a phenomenal resource - includes Baker culture sheets as well as both hybrid and species listings, but going forward it will not have new registrations or awards since the owner is retiring - it will only be available to purchase until Dec 31. Deep discount.
